What is ZIMS?
ZIMS is an acronym that stands for Zagreb International Medical Summit. It is a medical congress organized by medical students from School of Medicine at University of Zagreb. ZIMS has started 10 years ago as the first congress for medical students and young doctors in Croatia.
ZIMS organizers are EMSA Zagreb and Students Section of Croatian Medical Association.
Where and when is ZIMS?
ZIMS is held Zagreb, the capital of Croatia. Venue is the premises of Croatian Medical Association, Subićeva Street 9, 10000 Zagreb. ZIMS will take place from 11th - 14th November 2010.
How much is the registration fee, and what is included in the price?
The registration fee is 35 €, both for presenting and non-presenting participants. Included in price: morning coffee and beagles every congress day, coffee breaks between sessions, lunch and two dinners (welcoming dinner and gala dinner), and all the congress materials (congress bag, abstract book etc.)
If you want accommodation assistance. You will be asked to pay 55 € registration fee. It includes the registration fee and 20 € for accommodation reservation, you will pay the rest of accommodation price at the registration desk. (it will be another 40 €, or less)
How can I participate?
You can participate either as presenting or non-presenting participant. The registration form will be available on our website from April.
What are the deadlines?
Early deadline (abstracts submission for full text publishing) 15th July 2010
Late deadline (only abstracts and poster submission) 15th October 2010
What does full text publishing mean?
ZIMS is one of a few student congresses that offers you the possibilty to publish your full text in an cited medical journal.
If you send your abstract before the early deadline, and if it is chosen by our Scientific Committee, you will be asked to send in your full text for peer review. It will be printed in famous Croatian journal "Liječnički vjesnik" (cited in Index Medicus/PubMed and Experta Medica) if chosen by the editors board of the Journal.
What is ZIMS topic?
ZIMS does not have a single topic. The oral sessions are divided in common topic groups as orthopedic session, internal medicine session, pediatric session etc. You will choose your topic while applying in our on-line registration form.
When and where will ZIMS program be available?
ZIMS agenda will be available online when all the abstracts are received. The general program is:
On Thursday there will be two oral sessions, opening ceremony with invited speakers, first poster session and welcoming dinner.
Friday is reserved for Oral presentations.
Saturday includes two morning workshops, city sightseeing, more oral sessions, second poster session and the closing ceremony followed by gala diner. Participants will choose the best poster, oral presentation and best scientific work.
Do I have to arrange my accommodation by myself?
Accommodation will be provided upon request. You will have the opportunity to choose between 3 types of accommodation. First and the cheapest will be in student’s dorm, second type will be in the Zagreb Youths hostel s (20 € per night), the last type is in hotel (around 50 € per night)
Do I need visa to travel to Croatia?
Croatia is an accessible and safe country, with not so many visa issuing problems for foreign students. All citizens of EU countries & vast majority of other European countries do not need visas. For those participants that need visas to get to Croatia, we will be happy to support as well as try to deal directly with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to facilitate the visa issuing process.

Can I get an invitation letter?
We will provide participants with an official invitation letter for the congress, which will make it easier for you to get a visa. We will send it by regular mail or e-mail when we receive the proof of payment (e.g. scanned copy of bank receipt)
