This is old ZIMS logo, representing Zagreb coat of arms, sorrounded by the Snake of Aesculap/Asclepius (Ἀσκληπιός, Asklēpiós; / Aesculapius). In year 2008, when we started to organize ZIMS 8 we decided to change some things in the way that ZIMS will look, we decided to change our old logo to a new one. A modern one, for new times.
We were in search for young and promising designers from Croatia, and found that Ms Maja Matas is the person that we are looking for. She got the instructions that the new logo should represent Croatia, but also Zagreb, it should represent medicine, but also the EMSA international cultural and social spirit that ZIMS always had.
She used the Croatian coat of arms, the 13 red and 12 white squares that are representing Croatia from the 10th centrury, and are a part of Croatian national flag.
From the red and white squares she created the red cross and combined it with the blue color of Zagreb.
At the end she used the globe and combined it all together.
